AC/DC Fans Mark BON SCOTT's Death Anniversary On AC/DC Lane

February 19, 2005

Chris Evans of Australia's TheAge.com.au has issued the following report:

There was, of course, only one way to mark the death 25 years ago [Saturday] of AC/DC's lead singer, Bon Scott: with loud and live music being played in the city's newly renamed AC/DC Lane.

Warrnambool pub revival, and AC/DC-inspired band, AIRBOURNE, was up to the challenge, and at 5pm yesterday took the stage in the Cherry Bar. There were already 60 die-hards lined up to listen when they played their first song, Women on Top.

Among the crowd was Andrew Blizzard, 36, from Jan Juc , who recognised AIRBOURNE lead singer Joel O'Keeffe. "I know that guy, he's the barman in the pub in Warrnambool," he said.

While the band was set to rock until 5am, Mr Blizzard and his friends were also tempted by last night's Hawthorn v St Kilda match at the MCG.

"I don't know how many hours of AC/DC I can take," he said. But very soon there was a full house of enthusiastic fans and a BBQ working overtime in the lane.
